If I buy a Laser Printer do I have to get both toner and a drum for it to work? - brother mono laser printer

If I buy the Brother HL-2142 Mono Laser Printer also buy Brother DR-2125 drum Brother TN-2130 Toner Cartridge work for them?

What is the difference between toner and drum? It seems that with one without the other (I'm confused can print). The drum is just a more expensive type of toner print qulity.
